After an age of not wanting to give up my Praktica MTL3 fully manual film camera I have moved to digital. It has been a massive step forward and a huge descision as the Praktica produced amazing quality pictures and I had all the kit for it, which unfortunately, doesnt fit the Nikon D50 I am now using. Having had a range of lenses to use to now only using an 18-55mm on the Nikon is, well, frustrating but its all about the investment and plenty of lenses are already on the shopping list :).

Anyway, I have to admint that the quality is superp. Images are sharp and colorful and hardly ever need any post production which is one thing I was dreading!

If you are thinking of going digital then I would recomend it. However make sure you have good file managemnt skills as photos can go missing very easily. Also, make sure you monitor is color configured as post production can have drastic effects on the actual prints!

Heres a picture of the old beauty I have been using.

Now compare it to my new beauty!

mrk, is that an old Canonet? I had the QL17 model which was the last one of the range. It was superb but I sold it last year. The guy I sold it to is a mountaineer and now uses the Canonet for high altitude work in preference to his manual Nikon slr and Leica rangefinder

Aye it is that one! unfortunately the aperture seems to be broken on it but I still keep it as a shelf piece :) The viewfinder on it is so big!
