Finally im done (i hope)

Second spec on this page looks good but I'd spend less on the motherboard and get a UD5/DFI/Biostar. Also I'd get a non surround headset like the Goldrings.

Everything else looks perfect.

Really wanted the 5.1 surround, ive had plantronic headsets for 10 years + and never had any problems with them, im itching to play crysis or the new empire total war on full and have lovely surround sound cannon firing in my earssss ahhh bliss i cant wait!!!

So finally, am i ready to order? xD

Well my Corsair 620w PSU runs a overclocked Q9650, 4 gig of ram, 4870x2, 2 drives in raid O, optical, X-Fi and my 18w pump.
Definetly would get a modular PSU over that TX series one.

Sorry to be rude and bumping my own thread but i was hoping to get it order 2night, will the modular 620 run my system without any problems? or should i stick with the 750 tx.

You could save the £60 on the Noctua cooler as the stock cooler is quiet and effecient as it is.
Tho you wouldnt be disappointed with it, I changed the 4 case fans to Noctua, whisper quiet and fantastic airflow.

As I said I am running a 620w Corsair on my rig, which uses same amount of power, so should be no sweat.

If you are getting a noctua cooler than just get an OEM i7 920 and save £25. Also was just thinking if you go for 2 of the XFX 4870 1Gb that's on offer this week instead of that powercolour X2 you'll save nearly £80 and the performance would be the same/slightly better! Unless of course you want another X2 later to go quad crossfirex which is a huge waste of money imo.

Here's What I'd get:

And don't forget as a forum member you get free shipping!

Over 1k. You shouldn't be looking at anything apart from I7. you should also tone the rest of the system down a touch and get a sammy ssd for the os at £100.

Look in the Hard drive forum. Loads of threads praising the sammy drives.

Just a few more questions lol :(

A lamens question first i guess, well all my questions are lamen :D Whats the diffrence between oem and retail?

Also, could this system run on the corsair tx 650 psu? or should i really fork out the extra for the modular 620? I really didnt want to spend even more than i am already really, the 650 only caught my eye because its on offer this week.

As for the HDD, im quite happy to wait an extra second or so loading times with the spin point.

As for the gfx, i was hoping to crossfire x2 4870's in a few years when they are relativly dirt cheap.

oem is just without the fancy retail box, and if its cpu you dont get the cooler.
Get the 650w, it?ll stand you in good stead even with dual 4870x2's.

Ive got no use for the blu ray drives, i never ever watch movies and such from an actual disc, its a nice idea but i just wouldnt use it. I know the ram is maybe the weakest link of the build, but i can replace it in some months down the line, or get another block of them, though i doubt 12gb is neccesery, even of cheaper ram. It wont hold the system back too much will it?

edit, ive removed the headphones because apprantly 5.1 is no diffrent from the DSP 500's im using atm.

Oh and how do i get free shipping as a forum member? xD

I'd look at a cheaper graphics card and improve the quality of the RAM if you're at the limit of your budget.

Oh and I don't think you qualify for free postage unfortunately :( Got to have 200 posts or similar, and be registered for a certain amount of time.

Is the ram really that bad? i thought 6gb of 1333 was okie, it was on a great special offer reduced by £20 and was recomended by a few posters to take it. I can wait another week and go for the gskill stuff if absoloutly neccesery.
