I always find the first two or so months of the year incredibly depressing for some reason, a friend has named it his "misery season". I had been feeling it more than ever lately though as my job started to become worse than ever, and my dad is soon to undergo a triple heart bypass operation which scares me more than anything. He's a brilliant bloke and i couldnt stand to lose him.

I figure i could'nt do anything to change worrying about my dads operation, so i decided to try and change my job problems.

Im in a pretty "bottom of the ladder" job working as an "IS Support Officer" for my local Police force. It involves replacing people's low spec machines with newer ones. Yawn. Don't get me wrong, that was'nt the worst part - its the people i work with. They just love to pick on me.

Anyway, after looking around for other internal jobs for a while i was just about to give up and quit everything and start with a clean slate when my perfect job came across. It involves working with people i envy the most, the people that "own" their own projects such as ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), etc, etc. Basically its operational stuff and i find it incredibly interesting.

I sent off the application form a few weeks back and have heard nothing. Nothing came down the old grapevine to inform me of what was going on, until a woman at work today says "So, you prepared for your interview?". Shocked, i ask her what shes on about - and she realises i had'nt found out yet. Absolutely ecstatic i was bouncing around the whole day, and have just got home to find the official letter on my doorstep.

Plus - being internal has allowed me to find out there are two positions available and only 5 people being interviewed. 4 of which are external and will require extensive security clearence (sp?) and vetting before being offered the job, which gives me some good confidence that i have a chance at my dream job.

Interview is a couple of Friday's away so i have plenty of time to prepare - and prepare i shall!

I had to get this off my chest, so thanks for reading :D .
