Decided this it what im going to buy on the 15th Jan 2007 (pay day):
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £147.99
Asus P5B Deluxe (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £104.99
Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £242.99
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £105.99
Couple of questions though, im going to overclock and am hoping to hit 2.6Ghz - 2.8Ghz. I've read this be achived with the stock cooler? or safer to blast the Credit Card a little more and get say a Artic Pro Freezing 7?
Will I have to modifiy volts, mem timings etc to hit 2.8Ghz? Any one give me some pointers as to what i should start with? I know many of you have done this so ball park would be great (PS I will be printing out this thread to refer to during build)
Does the stock cooler come with a thermal sticker attached and should I replace with paste?
My PSU is a Tagan 2force 520 U22, enough juice for all the above?
Anything else anyone can think of that I should consider before hitting the buy button.
Sorry to be a pain but the last build I did was a mates P4 1.9Ghz 478Skt on a ASROCK Mobo and my over clocking skills are limited to nudging the FSB bus up by a couple of Mhz and I have never really modified Volts or mem timings. Other than that most my build have been at stock so I know my way around a BIOS and can put parts together but Im hoping to get the most outta my 6300
so appreciate your words of wisdom ![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
Im looking to keep this machine for while TBH at least 2-3years!
