Finally ordered my 360 - HD or SD?

Well for 50% of the price more yeah. Plus I've never heard of AOC so I don't know what the quality is like and according to the website they have no UK support network. With a PC monitor you can afford a great brand, with great service, it'll be thinner, bigger resolution, better response time, etc.

Both have their plus points. I would just prefer to save up for a quality HDTV rather and settle for the PC monitor in the mean time. I don't need 27" when I'm sitting a couple of metres from the screen and I doubt it would fit on my desk lol.

Horses for courses. Sure you can have a "great brand" TFT Monitor, but that's what it is - a monitor. To me playing a games console involves sitting in the living room with a big TV and a big chair/sofa. This is not the same as using the PC. Lets not forget that the 360 doesn't do the exact res of most 20/22" monitors os your get a nice blurry screen!!!

The AOC is fitted with a very good LG LCD panel, it isn't bad looking and fits the bill when it comes to HD gaming. I have used a PC monitor for Xbox 360 gaming and it didn't fit the bill - for me.

As for no UK support, well Belinea who make great TFT monitors don't have support in the UK. If you have a Belinea monitor on the Fritz you need to get in touch with Maxdata.

My final point in this post is the obession with "brand" - We have a Sony Bravia LCD HD TV and to be honest the case is more "designer" than the AOC. The picture quality provided by the Bravia Engine is a little better than the AOC. The Sony cost nearly 4 times the AOC.

If you want a cheap, good, big, sit-on-the-sofa kind of Xbox 360 HD experience then I'd say get a AOC. If you want to do it all in one room, PC, 360 etc then the TFT wins.

You pay your money you take your choice! ;)

I played my 360 on a Dell 2007wfp which is a good quality 20" tft, the trouble is you are never playing in the monitors optimum rez of 1680x1050 so the image quality was always abit crap imo, i plugged it into a 19"crt monitor to try it, as we all know crt scales to any rez and the difference was huge in quality over the tft.

I fancied a new tv anyway so getting the AOC was the best option for me i compared the image qualitys and it looked far superior through the tv than the dell tft to me.

I tried pgr 3 on my parents hd tv the other day in 720p mode and 1080 and a few other games and was distinctly underwhelmed, pgr was so jaggie it was ridiculous, nba 2k7 was a bit better but no way worth getting a hdtv for.
Wasn't that impressed tbh!

this thread has been twisting my arm in the direction of the AOC very much so!

Been contemplating what to spend on next as i dont want to take the plunge and end up having wasted my money.

My problem with buying the AOC is the 720p support, i was gonna fork out so i could get 1080p, but is the difference really worth it? I mean 1080 is supposedly the only 'TrueHD.' Was leaning towards the 2407 dell as i need a new monitor anyway but cant justify the expense just yet really as i'll be looking to upgrade in the next few months.

AHHHHH! Decisions....decisions....

Go buy it!

I run my 360 in 1080i on the 32" AOC and it looks great, same with 720p. No point in spending megabucks for 1080p when your 360 games won't look any better.

Go and get the AOC, spend the money you have saved not falling in to the brand trap on some (some!!!) 360 games and beer. You won;t regret the joys of HD

You might aswell get a wii if you not going to play a 360 in HD, they look average running through a crt tv.

The dell tft you stated is the one to get imo if you want to go that way.

Lets not get CRT and SD mixed up here..

I cant afford a HD tft at the min but when I got my 360 I refused to cripple it on a SDTV (seen that and its nasty).
So I got the VGA cable to run it through my monster Mitsubishi CRT monitor, it might not be as big as your tft's but it gives me one hell of an image :D

HD everytime.

AOC seem to be popular here, i'll have to have a look.

I just ordered the AOC L32W551T :)

I presume the video cables that come with the Xbox 360 are sufficient?
