Hi all,
Finally got around to ordering my Nikon D200 last night, can't wait til it arrives

My question now is, which lens should I buy to go with it. I photograph mainly at equine events such as dressage or cross country and also quad bikes, motocross, that kind of thing.

I've used the Sigma 70-300mm several times which I really like, however it seems to be out of stock on the two (cheapest) sites I've looked.

I was considering going for the Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DG MACRO - anyone got this lens? Any opinions?

Budget is £300 tops, although there doesn't seem to be much in the way of zoom lenses above £200, unless I spend £700+

Any thoughts?

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies.

I know that the Sigma 70-300 isn't going to do this body justice. Originally I was planning to spend a significant amount more on glass, but our offer was accepted on a house yesterday and my solicitor wants £300 tomorrow to start doing searches etc... So my (our) priorities had to change somewhat. You know how it is.

Of course I will be saving up for some better glass, hopefully the new Nikon 70-300 VR (?) which I gather is due around January time?

Cheers
Richard

Found it on the same site I bought the D200 from (don't think I can mention them, I'll refer to it as 'WhEx' from here onwards.

AF-S VR 70-300mm F4.5-5.6G IF ED £399 or £17mth
- Due December

Well anyway- I'll get saving :)
