Lovely colours in the first 2 pics.

I also like the composition of number 2 with flower buds, an opening flower and also a fully bloomed flower :)

I like #2 and the last one shows potential - the rest dont do much for me I am afraid.

One thing that is a recurring theme throughout this set is the noise. I dont want to start a Nikon slating session but why on earth are they so noisy? If you were shooting in low light then fair enough but it doesnt seem that way to me looking at the shots? Either your ISO is set miles too high for the conditions oryou are massively underexposing and bringing them back in PS. Are you shooting in JPEG or Raw?

Hi and thanks for the comments.

All shot in raw with iso either auto or 200. No processing at all and use Toneup S3 to convert to jpg and re size for the forum.

The original full size pics don't look that noisy to me??

I tend to shoot with aperture 1.8 and then let the camera do the rest. Perhaps thats where I go wrong? The last was evening in the shade of trees so fairly low light.

Please keep the suggestions/comments coming. I need to learn. :D :D

that's not noise, that's just miniscule DOF
2 4 and the last are pretty good but flower macros are hard to get anything really interesting anymore tbh
shooting at 1.8 isn't the best thing in the world mate
short DOF and your lens will be sharper too maybe around f4 up to f8
have a play with more settings

Thought it might be down to shooting like that.

So short of time at the moment but will play next weekend at the settings you suggest.
Thanks very much for the tip.
