I've finally seen the light and removed Nero 9 from my laptop (spec below in Sig!)!.. it was bloated, slow and buggy!...

Thing I'm annoyed with now is, how do I get rid of the crap its left behind!.. like the 'AutoRun' dialogue, it still shows (albeit without a propper icon) in the autorun when I connect a USB drive or insert a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray...

Anyone out there know how to remove these extra entries as they're bugging me!

Flippin Nero Crap!!!...

IMG Burn for burning images and reading etc and Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 (FREE) for everything else.

Job done :)

Yeah i agree, nero can be a bit bloated.

BUT, it's the only app I know that will burn .mp3's to a format my car cd can play. (I don't know what this format is, I just select the 'audio' option in nero express and it does the job). I can only fit about 10-15 tracks per 700mb disc though.

Yeah you're just burning an Audio CD which is the world's oldest consumer digital audio format perhaps :p

Ashampoo will do it as will many other apps as mentioned, heck even media player will burn an audio cd!

Ahh never realised that. I think with the other apps apart from Nero, when I tried burning some mp3's I must have selected 'keep original format' or something.

Might move over completely to one of the suggested apps.
Thanks

Personally I dont mind Nero

I think v6 is the best but with Win7, I have no choice but to use v8

Wouldnt piddle of v7 of course.

When I install it though, I simply chose to only have the basic Nero burner, the Cover editor ( to print DVD Covers ) and the Wave Editor ... Everything else is junk and bloat that I dont want and just these provide me with everythign I need.

another +1 for infrarecorder, went across to it from nero about a year ago never looked back.

Cheers Guys I'm using ImgBurn...

But anyone know how to remove the Nero Crap from my 'Autorun' dialogue.

Sim :)

Try CCleaner perhaps?

It's good to see an x64 edition of Infrarecorder, installed and replaced Ashampoo Burning Studio free :P

Yup, I don't mind it not having BluRay disc burning support just yet as it's going to be a while before I need to burn BD data discs with the size of USB sticks these days :p

So now my complete burning and ripping/encoding software consists of:

Mostly free too!

Shame that the newer versions of Ashampoo have followed Nero's trend of getting bloated - Version 6 FREE edition is still great but it's features have not been updated inline with version 9.x.

Nero is fine if you do a custom install and just put on the basics, but yes it is very bloated on a full / standard install.

I used to mess around with nero lite, tbh, I'd much rather just use something without any crap to begin with :)
