After a canceled appointment much to annoy me a few weeks ago finally tomorrow is the big day for young Bethany in London to spend a week in hospital with 27 wires hanging off her head for 24 hours a day and upto 7 days worth
This test will gather information on the pattern of her fits and what can be done to help her in the very near distant future . It should go one of two ways being the following
1, They will be able to control the fits with something called a viral stimulator which is a box implanted into her chest with wire coming out and then placed round the back of her head and fed directly to her brain , plug and play if you will . This box will gather information on her epileptic fits for a month and then after that start to send signals to the brain to try and counter act the fits
2, Major brain surgery . The tuberous sclerosis causing the epilepsy is by tumour things (forget correct medical term) on her brain , some cause epilepsy and some cause all the other problems . They would tell us where they are and depending what part of the brain that area controls the outcome of removing that part of the brain . In theory they could remove upto 50% of her brain and thats what will make it hard for us as it could be a dangerous area to remove and have negative affects
Please if you could put her in your thoughts for the best outcome
Will update when we get home in 4-7 days
Regards Luke
