Hi people,

After about a year of deciding, i finally bought my first Liter bike.
I have spent 2 years on 125s 2 years on a 2005 FZ6 Fazer and my new pride and joy is...

Triumph Sprint ST 1050 ABS (2007)
Heated grips
double bubble screen
R&G Crash bungs (see below)
Triumph Datatool Alarm

This is a picture from the test ride i took a week ago.
I picked up the bike this Saturday after having an alarm and R&G crash bungs fitted

I shall get some more pictures up once i am back home.

One question i have for anyone who has a Sprint. Have you had much success fitting a GIVI top box with the official Triumph panniers?

Lovely color, I bet that will polish up a treat

What way do you sit on a bike lol.

heh i was thinking the same thing :-p

I was originally looking at either black or Pacific blue or whatever they called it, the deep blue.

The standard red looked far too bright for me and the burgundy was too dull. Saw this then i just had to have it.

I am very much looking forward to polishing it. The only thing worth polishing on my Fazer was the Tank, and that came out very nice. This should shine quite nicely.

When I first saw the color I thought the man has only gone and bout a VFR1200 Aww dear. then you surprised me lol.

I don't hate the look of the VFR1200, but with a rubbish tank range and a price to give healthy adults a heart attack, i just couldn't even entertain the idea. Plus, I can now proudly admit i own a Triumph.

I Paid £5,680 that's including the purchase and fitting of the Alarm and R&G Crash bungs.

I am still looking to buy the official Triumph panniers, and of course a GIVI top rack.

I saw one go by yesterday and have to admit there not the most awful things but you have hit the nail on the head with the crap range it has

Yay! Love 'em, though I think the double bubble messes up the look a bit - hopefully if I go for one I'll be short enough for it not to matter :p

But really, excellent choice. I look forward to your in-depth review after 3000 miles/2 months. :)

Oh and more photos... of the back-end :D

I don't like the wing mirrors/indicators at all but I'll forgive it them as it was made in My town.
Enjoy.

Before you buy a Givi rack have a look and see if sw-motech do one gor the Sprint. I just got one gor the blackbird and it's so much more discreet than a givi rack, and feels a lot stronger too.

Sweet bike. All the benefits of the 1050 triple motor without the drawbacks of being exposed like on the S3.

Enjoy the torques and the colour, actually nicer in the flesh as one few streets from me.

Oh, and not sure on the seat on the sprint but on most other triumphs standard seat kills you in few hours if that. Check for a Gel seat bargain as has saved my buns of steel on long rides. Corbin's etc are fab but expensive and the gel was genuine part and seems to work well for anyone under about 15 stone.

Hi all,

I'll get some more pictures tonight.

I have been reading up on the sw-motech frames and the GIVI frames. I tend to put a fair amount of weight in my top box and I'm not too sure the motech one will be as stable as the GIVI frame. The motech only uses the grab rail as a stress point, whereas the Givi uses the grab rail and the second set of bolt holes the official panniers use.

So i'm a bit hesitant about fitting the motech one

Yes, i can get colour matched wing mirrors, they are quite expensive as they are sealed units.

As for the seat, it's surprisingly comfortable, much softer than my Fazer.

So far i have covered about 200-300 miles.
As far as the way it rides, power delivery is very, very smooth, it eases forward with very little effort. As i commute into London every day i was a little concerned about it's commuting ability considering it's not as maneuverable in tight spots. But so far I've not had any issues, it's very balanced while slowly passing stationary traffic.

The main issue i have at the moment is after about 30 minutes of traffic, things get a bit hot, hot enough to cook the family jewels.

I have a Givi set up it's the second set i have had and i fully recommend them BUT you will be surprised at how LOW the weight recommendations are for the top box i will dig out the specs, but i max mine out and some :D

I already have a GIVI E52 top box, i had one fitted to my FZ6 fazer.
The limit is 10KG at 100km/h or something.

So i would rather use a sturdy frame than just pile the whole load on the grab rail.

The first set up i had was a Givi frame affair very strong i believe a small child would be able to sit on it but the side parts are very brital and are very easy to brake if fitted incorrectly but once built correctly like i say very strong i broke one side of mine trying to give it a little bend after a respray big mistake but the parts are very easy to buy.

Like I say I've had both - givi rack on the ZX12R and Versys, then the SW-Motech on the blackbird. IMO the SW-Motech one feels far more secure. The problem with givi's is the long arms are made from quite thin tubing, whereas the motech one is realy thick aluminium bolted directly to the subframe - theres nowhere for any flex to develop.

I dont think the loading is any different though, as thats recommended by the topbox manufacturer. It defintiely looks better too, as the actual plate removes in about 10 seconds, so you dont have unnecessary scaffolding on your bike.
