When I was building this PC I was on a bit of a budget so got the rather awful Celeron E1400 Dual Core... hardly an exciting start to a rebuilt PC, but it was that or do without a PC for a month or so until I'd saved up some more. Got it and overclocked the hell out of it so its now running at 3.4GHz and does alright in most games, but its tiny 512kb L2 cache is still a massive hinderance.

So yea, about 4 months down the line now and I was looking at getting an E7400, looked a pretty good upgrade for around £100... not bad! Quick check of competitor to see how much I could save but was majorly distracted by an E8400 for competitor price, SCORE!! Snapped it up there and then! Coming from seller with nearly 18,000 feedback and comes with a 2 week warranty so hopefully should be fully working. No HSF or anything but its being watercooled anyway so no worries :)

Cant wait to test this baby out now!! (Overclocks to 4.4GHz or so if its E0, still over 4GHz if its C0 though... I think!?) Still waiting on my RMA'd graphics as well... and some new fans that are back ordered!! This is gonna be a long week haha :D

Both the E7400 and the E8400 should get you to around 4ghz, but the E8400 will have double the cache. Should be a big jump from your Celly :)
