I would like something to track my spending and finances when I am out and about. There are quite a few on the app store – any recommendations would be great.

Thanks.

Account Tracker (by Graham Haley)

It's designed to be updated with each transaction so your real balance matches the app.

It can handle direct debits, standing orders etc.

It is updated really often with new features and the developer seems to be adding things by request rather than just what he thinks it needs.

There is a free version to try.

Just be warned that initial setup with any app of this nature takes a bit of work to input all your information to get it working.

I see they are pushing 'ibank' in the apple web store. I am also looking at finding a Mac/iPhone home finance solution to migrate my decades worth of data from MS money (and before that Quicken). I looked at the vendor website and found that if you get it from there you can have a 30 day free trial which the app store doesn't give you.

I have downloaded and just started. Data migration as expected from MS Money is troublesome. Program looks OK, though not exceptional, on the desktop. Killer feature could be the iPhone integration. If this is the knees on the phone then I may pay up. Too early in my trial to firm recommend though.

I've tried a few of these. After using Cha-Ching for over a year, and being pretty happy with it, the devs took away all support and discontinued it. I couldn't find a suitable alternative, took me a good couple of months.

Finally settled with PocketMoney, and now much prefer it to Cha-Ching.

Been using Account Tracker now for a month and it's very good. It's a bit difficult to start with but is helping keeping track of my spending.
