Ye olde patrons of GD...

I have failed in my mission, and my google fu is weak. I cannot find the desk I am looking for. :o

Basically, what I'm looking for is something similar to mrk's desk. Before you ask, I did ask him about it but he got it at his work a few years back, so has no idea of the brand.

Problem is, I cannot stand desks with that wooden bit on the back. I prefer an all metal frame like mrk's desk has. Does anyone know anywhere you can get one?

It's either that or I just buy a beach wood top for my galant frame and suck it up... although I'm never too confident with cutting in those cable tidy things. :p

So, can the OCUK detectives triumph where I have failed? :o
 
Edit: I should read first :p

For the cable tidying either use a hole saw then fit the cirular things, can't really mess that up or cut notches if it's going to be right up against the wall.

Just don't put the bit of wood on? I don't think they're structurally required.. Mine isn't on my desk.

Nope. It's got that panel in the back and I absolutely can't stand it. If no such office desk exists without one anymore, I'll just have to get a new top for my galant frame and be done with it... not the ideal solution but eh. :p

Its not big and it doubles as a foot rest. :cool:
 
My vote goes towards a Fredrik desk along with some DIY to keep it stable without putting the metal thing in the back.

Couple of L brackets, one either side should do the trick?
 
Haha, look like you just can't get anything with a pure metal frame/office desk top anymore it seems.

All nice desks, just not what I'm after, thanks. :p

Look on second hand sites, that's where the serious deals are to be had.

I bought mine from Office Clearance Warehouse.

I went to visit their warehouse in Swindon, it's a very small business they run but they have a huge amount of stock and were really helpful. They even delivered down to Cornwall for free :\

They have a great deal there for £79.99, looks like almost exactly what you're looking for. They may come very slightly marked through standard wear and tear, mine had some to the underside of the desktop, but it's something you never ever see :p
 
I really don't know why you're so against a desk with a modesty panel on the back. I'm 6ft 6 and have never had a problem with the panel getting in my way under the desk. Though the particular desk I'm talking about is about 800mm deep. I also agree with others. Get a Fredrik desk but set it up as a standing desk. Like mine!
