Hi guys

I'm nearing the end of my new build and as such I'll be selling off my old system parts, one thing I have in mind is to use the funds to replace my old LG 1440x900 screen...

So find me a monitor!

Specs I require:

I play FPS so 100htz+ is a must, not sure if 144htz is worth the extra expense?! (TN / S-IPS?)

Going from 1440x900 I don't think 1080p is a sensible step as I tend to keep my screens 10+ years, so next up is 1440p (want to avoid any limitations with 1200p).

Response time will be low for anything around the 100htz+ range.

Physical size doesn't bother me too much, ideally if I can find a 21"/22" with 2560x1440 I'd be very happy as in theory the smaller screen size will make it cheaper, I'm using an older Hanns G 21" HZ221 (1680x1050) at work and the physical size is about right!

Ideally I'm looking to spend ~£200 (yes I know I'm a cheapskate! :p)

Hmm... I'm not sure that anything exists that will meet your 'requirements'.

I've not seen any 2560x1440 monitors below 27" and none capable of 100Hz+ that didn't involve overclocking.

What are you planning to drive it with that will handle that resolution at that frame-rate?

oh... I almost forgot, £200 is not going to get you even close unfortunately ...

I'm all flexible for every one of my 'specifications' as I'm after advice and opinions (from those of you much more up to speed on your monitors) what would be the best for me! :)

Would dropping to 1080p and looking at 23"/24" bring things into my rough budget? I'm not adverse to buying second hand, so any opinions on which models from a year or two ago should I keep my eyes open for? ;)

You could get yourself a 27 inch screen if you're happy to settle for 1080p, it's also less GPU hungry a resolution, so easier on the wallet when it comes to GPU choice.

This is an amazing offer right now(this week only) and would be an awesome screen for you, if your budget allowed it.

I don't expect to be purchasing until after xmas so will look when I've actually got more funds from selling my current setup.

GPU grunt doesn't worry me, I've got a good clocking 7950 and looking at CF.

I'd suggest trying to focus your decision by choosing between 1440p or 100Hz+

Once you figure out which is more important to you it will be easier to narrow down your options.
