Long shot, as I had a memory flash last evening and it recalled something from many years ago.
I am trying to recall the name of a film, in which a young lady, possibly a librarian, is employed by various households in a town to read to some people. The film revolves around her interactions with the various people she is reading to, and subject to that which reads.
It might be a foreign language film, probably subtitled, probably from the 1960s or 1970s. Potentially shown on channel four or BBC2 late at night.
If I recall correctly, one of the men she reads to, asks her to read him the Marquis de Sade. This man might also have been one to appear in hammer horror films, or possibly just look like the 'wealthy landowner' type from such films.
She also read to a young man, in a wheelchair, or invalid of some sort, I think during one of their reading sessions he had an epileptic fit. I think she read to him about wolves, or hunting or similar.
Anyway, let me know if this rings any bells at all, we're probably talking aired 25 years ago, likely was an older film than that, hammer horror era, without being hammer horror.
