I have been looking for 2 months in an effort to find a flatshare in london. I have looked for dozens of places with no sucess so far. I am just wondering why it has turned into X-Factor style auditions. My budget is up to 700PCM. I am not hard to get on with. Generally very sociable and tidy. I have a lot of interests and a good job. Any ideas, anyone got anything available.

I am at my wits end here, I have been trying for so long now, my girlfriend is basically getting sick of hearing of my lack of sucess. We live far apart, me in south east london and here in barnet. Although we have a good relationship this last hurdle is causing damage to our relationship. I can't stay over hers because her family are strict and won't allow men over. She is muslim so thats the answer incase anyone asks. She can't come over here because she wouldn't be able to get to work in the morning.

I met a girl today for a flat and she tells me that she might rent the room out to a friend of a friend! arrgghhhhhhh

What sites are you using?

I was going to say that it'll probably get better towards the end of the month when students are desperate to fill their vacancies, but you're not a student and so they won't take you in..

700 a month to SHARE..

I'd want a whole house not a room!

What's not viable about commuting?

Why not both move out of london, get somewhere cheap(er) together and the savings can go towards to costs of the commute.

Are you saying the magic words?

1. I can move in right away
2. I have money for a deposit now

Also don't mention you need the pad because you can't stay with the missus, no one likes sharing a flat with potentially an extra permanent house guest.

Try gumtree, moveflat and rollonfriday accommodation section. Also bear in mind it's prime time for students to be moving in and people starting jobs after summer so there's loads of applicants around. Stick it out a month and you'll find people are far more willing to take anyone with the cash available.

If you don't mind the western suburbs I might be able to help you with that. I'm guessing no though as you start so early at work...

Yeh my missis isn't planning on staying with me. A lot of the places I am looking at are stated for being suitable for couples. She does want to stay round on random nights. I have a decent job, I earn about 30 grand a year at the moment. I can more than easily afford the deposit etc I just don't want to get a flat on my own just yet because I know I will get bored on my own.

How far out in western suburbs, are we talking further than zone 4? Is it on a tube line, transport hub of any sort. At the moment I wake up at 5am for work and leave at 5.30.

Zone 6, but I can generally get to the city in 40 minutes from where I am now (fast train to Waterloo takes 30mins, plus 10mins walk from there), but I'm considering moving closer.

There are two more trains per hour not listed there, you could still take the slow service at around 5.40 and get to work on time (with less crowding too).

When you say £700pcm you mean £350 x 2 right?

Drop me an email (through the trust button) if you're interested :)

You realise he's trying to move to be closer to his missus in Barnet so not sure Zone 6 west qualifies :p Kudos for the offer though!

OP look around Camden, should be able to get a decent place for that budget through gumtree etc

Fokes I am leaving home in a minute to spend an hour with a bus load of people fast asleep. Arrrghhhhhhhhh Yep I could move further out if my missis was coming with me, Zone 6 wouldnt be bad if I was on my own. I live in zone 5 currently. Someone swap shifts with me.

Thanks for getting back to me, and yes that is a hellish schedule :p

The 700 PCM budget for a house share in zone 1/2 should be quite easy. At the end of the day you've just got to perceiver with gumtree/moveflat. If you've checked loads of properties maybe its best to ask the people who reject you for some feedback. No one wants to live with someone boring/loon.

Slight thread jack but...

Does anyone know what is roughly the going rate for a flat share/room in Zone 3 would be?

You'll have to be more specific.

/OT : long time no see, how's the apprenticeship?

2 Bedroom flat (looking into the possibility of converting the living room to a third bedroom) near the streatham area (Not the best area to live, but there are worse).

5 minute walk to train station that'll get you to London Victoria in around 20 minutes. About 10 minute walk to the local (small) supermarkets, 3 minute walk to local shops, plenty of parking.

Smallish flat but the rooms are a fair size.
