Finding job without agency

Is there any easy way to locate a company from a job advert posted by an agency?
as I have had bad experience with agencies in the past. when i took the job the employer was peeved as they paid a large sum to the agency which they then regarded as "pay" for me and then expected me to make up for.

Search for a phrase in the ad on Google.
I've done this in the past and many times companies have exactly the same ad posted on their careers page on the internet and it shows up in the search results.
Doesn't work all the time for obvious reasons, but it's worth a go at least.
