Finding out make of sound, graphic card etc

I reformatted, and reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on a computer tonight, although now I have discovered the Sound card, and several other card drivers have not been installed.

There is a recovery CD which came with the computer in question, although I am reluctant to use this. The drivers are not easily located on the CD. I attempted using device manager - search for drivers but to no luck.

Is there any way to find out the make and model of the cards without having to open the case or use the recovery CD?

On your computer should be a model number. Put that model number into Google e.g. Advent 5197 and it should give you a spec page.

I think theres a freeware program called Everest Home Edition which can inform you of all your system components.

Dosent that only work if the drivers are inatalled tho?

Wouldn't it just be easier (and simpler) to pop the case off, and look?
