I obviously have an application that is causing me to run in basic mode, rather than with Aero. Does anyone know how I can find out exactly what application is causing this? I've tried having a hunt, but its not obvious to me. :)

Thanks.

Well this is what I was thinking, but my colleague is using the same Intel 965 drivers without problems.

I've tried removing all surplus apps from the tray too - I thought these might be the cause...

Hrrrm I found it. If I turned off my external monitor, then went into the windows appearance panel, I can turn Aero back on.

So in that respect, it must be a display driver issue :)

Thanks all.

Java?

Older versions of the Sun Java VM caused Aero to switch off whenever you opened a webpage which used it. The latest version cures the problem.

EDIT: Ooops, didn't see you'd fixed it - teach me to read to the end of the thread in future :)
