finding out who wrote reviews trace back

hi all, we have had a review on our google page which is quite nasty and very direct in what they say but has been clearly thought before written and a very good command of english.

we love reviews on our site and if you read them over the months of receiving them you can clearly tell that the above review is completely opposite to what every other review shares.

we are convinced that the review is written by the competition down the road to try and put others off from coming to us as the review is very clear how they describe there experience but talking to my staff we have not had any customers come in with those requests!

I was wondering how we could go about tracing back either the email or who the person actually is that wrote the review.

when you say google page do you mean the page you have with google places that shows up on the maps? if so i thought you could see the username of the person who left the review and perhaps trace it along that way?

sorry yes google places, it does show the persons username but thats about all i can find out

sorry i may not be able to offer the help you're after but hopefully i can help in another way.

has the user wrote any reviews on the competitions page?

also i heard you can respond to reviews for all to see. perhaps you can get revenge by googling "how to turn a bad review into a good review", get some tips and giving a good response showing how high you value your customers etc. that'll quickly stop them from writing bad reviews or they may even go as far as remove the review if it ends up helping you.

are you able to offer a discount such as 5% off order if customer sees that review?

that was my initial thought, as im sure if it was a real customer then they would almost certainly respond or come in even if it was only once again, no one can resist things for free!!!

ive tried to google or fine other reviews by the name but come up stumped.
