I want to find out exactly what type and speed of memory board is in a mates PC - ie PC2100, 133Mhz (if I've got this right!) and want to know the easiest and most reliable way to do this, given no one has the original PC paperwork/config.

Thanks.

Use CPU-Z.

If its DDR ram in the PC, multiply the reported frequency by 2 to give the operating frequency.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've just downloaded CPU-Z and tried it against my laptop and get the following for my memory;

Type = DDR
Frequency = 166.5Mhz

So I'm correct in assuming the memory speed (if I wanted to replace it or add to it) is 330MHz?

If I wanted to know about whether its PC2100 or PC2700 etc, where do I get that?

It should be PC2700 as the default operating speed for it is 333mhz. It will also tell in one of the other tabs of CPU-Z if you select the drop down menu in it, and look at the right slot the RAM is in. :)
