Hi. I had a windows xp isntallation, but now i've installed a new raid setup with two other hard disks and instaleld windows on that raid.
the previous windows setup is stilll in tact and I'm just using it at the moment to copy over all my files.
I want to boot into it though ebcause htere are a few things which will take very long to reinstall.
My current boot.ini for the new XP install is:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
This is for the Raid setup on the Promise controller of my motherbaord.
the other hard disk is on Via's controller, and is plugged into the master slot. All the drives are connected through sata.
How do i make boot.ini point to the right hard disk?
I've tried changing the rdisk from 0 to 1 to 2 and then the same but with partition set to 2 (the old hard disk has two partitions) but when I go to msconfig and click the Boot.ini tab and check boot paths it says it can't be found. The windows directory is definately WINDOWS.
Is there any way I can look at the addess of a drive in this form through windows?
