Fingerprint reader/sensor no longer works

On my LG Gram, the sensor has stopped working in the last few days. The face and fingerprint set-up in Win 10 Hello is greyed out and not available.

I uninstalled all the updates back to July. I spent all day yesterday on YouTube, going through the same practices by different posters. All to no avail, though there are plenty comments saying "worked for me". Twice, did a system restore but failed due to AV running or something like that.

Does anyone have an actual fix? Or is it possible the actual sensor is goosed? The power button work fine but not sure if the sensor is a dedicated bit of kit below the integrated power button or not.

Is it possible that the sensor is simply dirty? Have you tried cleaning it with IPA?

I hadn`t up to now, but just gave it a wipe with an alcohol lens cleaner tissue and no change.

Upshot is that it was sent back for repair under warranty. They either lost it or broke it so am now being offered a replacement.

Still waiting on my replacement. LG agreed to replace it on the 15th last month so gawd know why "it can take up to 28 days".

A company is only as good as its customer services so hope my wifes (same) laptop or my C965" OLED doesn`t go down. LG are an utter joke and will seriously impact my future purchases of their goods.

Double check the spec when you get it and make sure they haven't given you one with less RAM, smaller drives etc.

Yeah, they offered me the same but this years model. 12th Gen processor instead of 11th Gen` is the only difference.
