Sounding good, or can you think of any improvements?

Already own:
AMD x2 3800+
1x 160GB Maxtor

Will be adding:

MY-080-CS Corsair 2GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT400C3) (MY-080-CS) 1
£94.95 £94.95
MB-118-AS Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-118-AS) 1
£119.95 £119.95
GX-044-CO Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) 1
£199.95 £199.95
HD-001-HI Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 NCQ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0A31637) (HD-001-HI) 2
£47.95 £95.90
Subtotal £510.75
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £8.95
VAT £90.95
Total £610.65

Couple of questions:

* x1800 or 7900GT (can be bought for £200)?
* I wont ever be going sli / crossfire, so is there a board with same stability and gaming performance for cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Sounds good!

I've posted my suggestions under each part of your spec

Fine choice

Great motherboard. I'd also consider the A8N Premium if you're not running SLI as you won't benefit from the dual x16 slots. The Premium is a very nice, stable and fast motherboard

Again, a great choice. The 7900GT is basically a speed bumped 7800GTX so it's about on par with the X1800XT, perhaps a little slower. I'd personally get the X1800XT. I'd consider spending the extra £15 for the 512MB version - it's not much and the extra memory makes a difference at resolutions of 1280x1024 and above when a lot of AA and AF is applied - this makes it quicker than the 7900GT

I'd personally go for the Western Digital Cavier Special Edition 160GB SATA-II drive over the Hitachi

Hope that helps!

X1800XT is cheaper & faster.

Also could get this mobo...
Asus A8N5X nForce4 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-120-AS)
Good stable mob & saves you some cash.

Don't buy the A8N32-SLi Deluxe if you're getting the X1800...it's pointless because you can only run one ATi card on that board.

I don't agree with this statement

Yes you cannot run a dual graphics system but you have one of the best, if not the best, AMD motherboards available.

You have a second 16x PCI-E slot for a second graphics card, for example, for more monitors, or for other expansion cards. You have the option to upgrade later to SLI
