So, it's upgrade time again, and I'm almost ready to go. I will be ordering all the bits'n'pieces either on Thursday or (most likely) Friday, but didn't want to leave posting this thread until the last minute. The main questions I hope you, the learned OcUK users, can answer for me please are:

Will I need anything else?
Perhaps cables wise etc. If I want to hide the cables behind the Mobo will I need a 20/24Pin PSU extension cable due to the large size of the case and thus the larger distance between the PSU and Mobo? (I expect this will only be answerable by someone who has experience of this case)
Does the TRUE cooler come with everything I need to install it?
Anything else I have forgotten?

Is everything compatible?
Especially the RAM and Mobo, if anyone has/had this exact combination, will they be fine together?

Right, onto what I will be buying:

Before anyone points out the obvious, yes, there is no RAM in that spec. That's because I am looking at the Patriot Viper DDR3 (6GB), which OcUK do not sell. A quick google will produce information about this. There are some other things I will be purchasing but haven't included in that picture as they are personal choice/irrelevant (e.g. mouse/keyboard).

In terms of the actual components, I am not really after opinions on what I could change for most of them as I have spent many an hour researching and changing my mind before landing on this. However, if anyone has evidence of some different RAM that may be better for a similar price then by all means feel free to mention those.

Usage wise, I will have it hooked up to a Dell 2408 (thus at 1920x1200), and will mainly be used for games, general work/browsing, photoshop, and perhaps a bit of video editing if I ever get round to taking it up as a hobby!

I think that summarises everything, so comment away!

Thanks,

Simon

First thing- get the i7 920 D0 Retail - at the moment it is cheaper that the OEM version and comes with 2 years more warranty.

The motherboard comes with all the wires you need for SATA connections and all the other components will defiantly fit together fine. As for the PSU wires being long enough - I don't know, hopefully someone with experience with that case will read this thread.

The thermalright heatsink will mount fine to the chip and attach one of the noctua fans fine. However, it does not come with a second fan clip, so you will have trouble connecting the second fan. If you google "thermalright polycarbonate" you should find a solution to your problem.

Everything else will come together fine.

Thanks for the help. Funnily enough you picked up on the two things I had forgotten to mention in my opening post!

If I can order the TWO offer on the i7 then I will definitely do so, it's just a case of ordering it before Thursday (any idea at what time on Thursday the offer ends?!). I didn't include it in the picture just in case there was a delay in ordering everything.

About attaching a second fan to the TRUE, I did intend on buying some extra clips (again OcUK don't stock these annoyingly). Is there much advantage of the option you mentioned? Does it reduce vibrations that the standard metal wire clips produce?

I'm not sure if it reduces vibrations - but it holds the fans on very securely and takes 2 seconds to mount, unlike the extremely infuriating wire clips. It cost me a tenner for two of the black plastic fan holders - but it was money very well spent (it also didn't interfere with my northbridge cooler which the clips did).

Ah ok, wise words indeed. Looks like I may be investing in two of them myself. Cheers!
