It's a 1995 Mazda MX6 2.5 V6 24v GT on 103k miles.

Full Mazda service history
2 Lady owners from new (Mother then daughter)
Black leather interior
ABS
Air-Con
Cat1 Alarm/immob
Electric windows and sunroof
Electric mirrors
Cruise control
5sp manual box

Needs a couple of things doing from my appraisel:

Could do with new disks all round - Easy and cheap
Gearlever return spring is slack - Easy and cheap
Throttle linkage needs greasing
Some minor rattles from the interior.

Other than those things it's tip top. Bodywork is A1 with no scratches, dents, or rust. Motor has plenty of go and sounds sweet right up to the limiter. Interior is excellent with only minor scuffing on the drivers seat side boulster. Brakes are a bit crap because of the aforementioned worn disks.

£1,800 Bargain.

Arnt these like ford Probe just with a mazda badge and skin

Wasnt she going to get something like an Audi?

Nice probe :D

Cant say im a fan of them tbh but if the little lady is happy...

Be careful though, the engine is known to make a loud rattling sound - its nothing terminal nor anything you need to sort out. but a dodgy mechanic will charge a lot to get rid of it.

Correct. It's a Probe 2.5 v6 with a Mazda body and badge on it. More kit though and better handling.

The interior is a billion times nicer than the Probe

Wouldn't have been my first choice but it's a good, honest motor and it will be reliable.

I think its the other way around, i.e. the Ford Probe is a Mazda with a Ford Badge on.

Looks nice. The 2.5v6 isn't a bad engine as I understand it. I think they were the desirable model when in the Probe weren't they (rather than the 2.0 16v which was a bit gutless iirc)? :)

Ford own Mazda so wouldnt it be the way i said to start with

Same mill as the one in the MK2 Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X so no, not a bad motor at all.

Looks dead easy to work on.

It does look nicer then the probe.

And its better then having your wife driving around in something that an alien would do to a human :p

wow, hardly one comment on the car itself :/

personally i like the look of the mx6 :]

In what ways? Different heads? Injection system?

It's a completely different engine, IIRC.

Pretty sure the Mazda MX6 is essentially the Probe, which was designed for the American market and doesn't share many components with things like Mondeos. I think you'd be lucky to experience typical Mazda reliability with it, but good luck :)

Hope she likes it. Wouldn't have been my choice though.

It is the Ford Cougar and not the Ford Probe which is essentially the Coupe V6 Mondeo Ghia X.

I get the impression that everyone thinks it's a POS.

She likes it and that's the important thing. Not too shabby on the old performance either: 164bhp and 0-60 in 8.2s.

Just done some reading and it's a Mazda unit in the car. Shared with the 626.

We've looked at a lot of cars over the last few days and TBH the MX6 was far and away the best of the bunch.

Honda Prelude: Were all really tatty at similar prices to the MX6.
Hyundai Coupe: Nice ones were very expensive. Cheap ones were scrap.
Toyota Celica: A couple of nice ones about but very few had decent equipment. A lot of accident damaged examples around too.
Mondeo Ghia X: Fiona hated them all. <--- this would have been my first choice.
Audi Coupe: All scrap at that price.
Fiat Coupe: Very few that look "honest". Lots of fabricated SH and missing belt change info.
