Fire engines raced to Melbourne House responding to a call. The body was discovered on the sixth floor. The man was an elderly person in a wheelchair. The flat has been sealed for scene-of-crime investigation. People in two neighbouring flats had to be rehoused due to the smoke. At about 10pm, the fire engines were withdrawing from the scene of the fire which lasted for over 2 hours. The coroner has been informed. A post-mortem is being held today.
