Anyone seen the fire today? Looked pretty major, was right near the Veolia plant off parkway.

Can still see the smoke at home 15 miles away!

Can see the smoke plume from our house in Kimberworth, (Rotherham) can't see what's on fire though.

I have cycled up to Rother valley and it has covered the skys here with black smoke. Just seen another big puff of black smoke go off.

Large plastics fire in Sheffield

Firefighters are in attendance at a large fire in the Attercliffe area of Sheffield on Sunday afternoon.

Ten fire appliances and around fifty firefighters are dealing with a huge blaze in a plastics factory on Foley Street. Early reports are that the fire initially involved nearby refuse, and spread to the factory, involving around 20 tonnes of plastic.

Fire crews were first called at 2.30pm. There are no reports of any casualties but a large plume of black smoke is spreading across the local area, and local people are advised to go indoors and keep their doors and windows closed.

I'm also about 10 miles away from this and the plume is drifting my way. My sister lives in Chesterfield and says it's visible there too.

Got off a bus near it about 3 ish and didnt even notice it till I turned around lol. Its still going from what I can see down the hill to it

All I can say is thank goodness the wind was blowing the way it was. I don't live far from there and having to shut the windows on a day like today :eek:
