Since Firefox updated itself from 2.0.0.10 to 2.0.0.11 it keeps forgetting the settings after rebooting or loading Windows from cold. If I set the options and close/re-open Firefox then everything is remembered.

I've had Firefox set to:

Never check it's the default brower
Don't remember visited pages
Keep cookies: until I close Firefox
Always clear my private data: all options ticked

I also use Adblock.filterset.G with Surpress Update message ticked which also resets.

Anybody know what is going on?? I've had no problems with Firefox settings until the 2.0.0.11 update and have not changed anything myself.

When you shut Windows down, do you close Firefox properly beforehand?
What settings are being lost - the four you list, or everything goes back to default? What about your bookmarks/history?

I close Firefox normally (orange Windows cross icon) and have done so ever since I started to use it alongside IE.

The settings that reset are as listed (although I may have set others and have simply forgotten/not noticed them resetting).

I'm not loosing my bookmarks but I specifically don't want Firefox to keep my browsing history and have had it set to be cleared on closing.

I use Firefox with cashback sites and as such have it start each time with no trace of previous browsing. The default settings keep cookies forever and saves browsing history for 9 days.

i have had similar problems in Vista, uninstall it and run the setup program by right clicking on it and running as administrator. I hope this will fix your issue

Only thing I can think of is try a new profile (instructions here).

Well I got round to making a new profile and it appears to have worked. The funny thing is that I made a new profile, copied and re-named the default profile to the new profile, re-started Windows and all appears correct.

Thanks Tolien.
