I'm sitting here, 3 tabs open and its currently sitting on 1.2Gb of memory according to the task manager. Not a huge problem for me, but I'm still guessing its not supposed to be doing that?
That said, its probably been opened for around 12 hours, most of that time idle, and that I can just restart it to start again clean, and that most users won't be affected by this, but thats not really the point.

Not had any memory leaks myself in Firefox 3, it does use 75MB on one window and a bit more on multiple tabs, but nothing that effects other programs/games.

It shouldn't be doing that, have you got the latest FF? (Help > Check for updates)

Yeah, latest version, just 6 extansions which I guess could be causing it (The skype one, IE tab, Duplicate tab, DownThemAll, all-in-one gestures and Adblock plus), though I've just noticed that one of them's been updated and needs a restart. Don't think that would cause memory problems though.

I've been having issues with FF3 memory hogging and sometimes not completely shutting down (seems to have gone, but the process is still there).

Resart of FF cures it - but something's not right. I do have quite a few extensions though.

What's happening in the tabs?

IETab's known to leak, but if you can't reproduce it there isn't much you can do.

On the other hand, you've hardly shown it's a leak rather than just excessive memory usage - they're by no means the same.

I have no idea what's going on with Firefox. I'm running the latest update, 5 tabs open, computer has been on for less than half an hour and I've been watching the memory usage on Task Manager keep going up and up and up and up, it's just not stopping. Its just gone past 662 Mb as I write this, 673 now, still rising. I only have the following extensions: CustomizeGoogle, Tab Mix Plus, Stylish and Google Redesigned.

I often find it's badly coded websites which hog memory more often than not... obviously if it's sticking at that memory usage across different sites that isn't the problem though.

Disable all extensions, then enable them one by one to see which one is the culprit, I have 22 tabs open with around 17 add-ons and firefox is only sitting on 150mb.
