Firefox 3 not resuming previous session

Does anyone know how to set it to do this?

With FF2 if I shut down (without closing FF), on the next boot it would ask if I wanted to resume the previous session. Similarly if I shut down Firefox 3 it doesn't warn me etc.

I have set "show my windows and tabs from the last time", yet it doesn't work.

Mines working fine, and I've not configured it in any special way.

What happens if you kill the FF process in Task Manager, then start it up again?

The behaviour that Firefox didn't close properly when you restarted Windows was fixed - not least because it has the potential to break something...

Similarly if I shut down Firefox 3 it doesn't warn me etc.

You mean ask if you want it to save your session?
You've already told it you do, so the warning isn't shown.

Well if I've told it to save sessions, why isn't it?

I did install the final version over the RC, so maybe that caused it.

I think it does have the habit to 'break' certain settings though. After I installed it I found I could no longer download anything in FF or IE - said I didn't have permission. Turns out FF had changed some obscure setting in IE's Internet Security for no apparent reason.

Well I have "Warn when closing multiple tabs" selected, but that doesn't work either.

Shut down Firefox, delete sessionstore.js from your profile, start Firefox again and see if it saves your session from there.

That's what I was talking about before - it's pointless asking you if you want to save your session if you've already set that you do.

It should be at %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\[random stuff].[profile name]

Got some other extension that handles saved sessions?
Check about:config, and make sure browser.sessionstore.enabled is set to true as well.

easiest fix = install tabmix plus addon ...gazoodles of tab options + handles session saving like a dream.

It's a bit of a bug that it doesn't warn you if you set "Restore my sessions from last time" and disable sessionstore :/

It still doesn't warn me if I close down whilst having multiple tabs open.

I'm guessing that's because I have restore sessions enabled.

I'd rather leave FF to do the restoring rather than using tabmix.

tabmix can also save sessions and is more reliable than the built in FF SS in my experience but it's your choice
