Firefox 3 Open in New Tab?

Hey,

In Firefox 3 RC, i'd like to ideally do something like this: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2136/firefox_open_search_results_new_tab.

When searching for the browser.search.openintab entry, it's not there. Anyone know how to do this in FF3 RC?

hmm, any idea how i can delete the entry? i accidentally set it as string rather than boolean?

infact don't worry, no need to delete it, i just created a new one

To delete it, you need to edit prefs.js (in the folder where you installed Firefox), or user.js (in your profile folder).

Is there a way to do this but for whenever i type anything in the address bar instead? I had it set up on IE7 so when i typed something in there it would open a new tab, i can't work out how to do it on FF3

Push the Alt key when you push enter, or middle-click the go button?

Tab Mix Plus will let you set an option to open URLs from the address bar in a new tab, but it's loaded with other crap that you probably don't need.
