Firefox 4 Beta 2 Released

Using Direct2D

By default, Direct2D and DirectWrite are turned off. Steps to turn it on:

Enter 'about:config'
Click through the warning, if necessary
Enter gfx.font in the 'Filter' box
Double-click on 'gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled' to set it to true
Below this, right click and select New > Integer to add a pref setting
Enter 'mozilla.widget.render-mode' for the preference name, 6 for the value
Restart

Some good sites

Some good sites that show off the advantages of hardware acceleration well are the following:

http://people.mozilla.com/~vladimir/demos/photos.svg (particularly noticable when sizing up the photos)
http://srufaculty.sru.edu/david.dailey/svg/balloon.svg
http://srufaculty.sru.edu/david.dailey/svg/clipdrag12.svg
http://maps.google.com/ (zoom in and out once, to make sure that images are cached, and then see the smooth zoom in/out animation in the D2D build)

Just installed it, and I like the tabs on top! :D

I use TwentyTen on Windows so kinda missed the tab layout on OS X. I have also just discovered the App Tabs - I dunno if they were in BETA 1 [didn't really play with it much] and I like the idea.

Tabs on top was in the Mac version of 4.0b1, you just had to fiddle with it to get it to work. :p

Anyone's awesomebar not working anymore? :( I upgraded from 4.0b1 and my awesomebar does not display a thing when typing something in. I have checked the preferences and that is all fine and dandy.
The thought just crossed my mind that it may be an addon doing it, I will play around and see.

Update: it is fastestfox 4.1.5 that causes it :o Disabling it makes awesomebar work again :D
