I don't know if you have tried FF4, but i think it is slow. Even at the beta stage, I would have thought it would be quicker than Chrome.

Seems pretty speedy to me. Can't really tell any speed difference between FF4 and Chrome.

Usual tradeoffs apply: Firefox is more customisable but has a poorer UI, uses more memory, etc.

Think you'll find chrome not only eats more memory, it uses more cpu, gpu and hd space than ff/opera/ie hence is faster than ff/opera/ie :) Considering we do pretty much everything in our browsers it makes sense, but googles been long ahead of the rest for a while now.

The people having speed issues with the last beta tend either to still have stuff lingering from a previous ff install or just fallen victim to one of the memory bugs.

Please don't feed the troll

I think it looks pretty sweet, loads up fiarly quick as well, only problem is it still need intergrated flash, like chrome does.

ups with it compared with chrome is the options and addons etc

Just as quick as Chrome for me, on a very average internet speed. Much friendlier UI and better customisation is a plus too (although having used it since 3.6 I may be biased).

FF4 not saving my tabs is annoying me. Unless I'm missing something they have disabled it, and have a pinning system in place instead.

Umm, no? Close FF4 with multiple tabs on and open it again, click on Restore previous session and all of them will load up again.

Might have something to do with it being pr release beta software?

RC1 seems pretty much complete though, although I can't really see the web developer console going into the final realise but I also cba reading this late.

rc1 can be found here for anyone interested, pretty much finished (lables 4.0, not rc), nice and fast and I can even make it use the same amount of memory as chrome :) Oh and if you want status bar icons back check the add-on bar under options.

Might have to give the RC a go. I am currently running Chrome beta and I have personally found it faster than firefox. Will have to compare again now they are finally nearing release after so many betas.

AFAIK RC 1 has not been finalised as yet and what is out is a RC1 candidate. That doesn't mean that it might not be released as the final RC but there could be other builds (if bugs found), and thus changes, before it is released officially.
I'm just using the Minefield nightly builds.

True, however they've said repeatedly that unless any major bugs are found (seems unlikely) then it's going to be the code that ships.

They seem quite confident, seeing as they removed the beta/rc moniker

That's a Chrome theme I applied lol, I like Chrome's UI a lot so this suits my needs and gives me the power of FF and its extensions :D
