Firefox 6.0.1 Stability Issues?

So its now been updated to 6.0.2 within a couple of weeks which i found surprising.

Anyhow, with 6.0.1 i found Firefox was using up to 1.5GB of my RAM, which made it incredibly unstable which i had never experience before, this was with only 3 tabs open; OCUK Forums, YouTube homepage (no background buffering etc) and then Facebook.

So i tested the earlier version of Firefox, 5.0.1 or something and it was fine, then today i received another update bumping it to 6.0.2, and voila! Using less than 600,000K Memory and its stable, no freezes for 2 seconds at random times and i can now type without waiting to see what i have type and if its correct.

Did anyone else experience these stability issues when browsing in Firefox? I mean it wasn't my PC i don't think as Chrome, Safari and Opera all worked fine with the same tabs open.

Thanks :)

Hummm I don't know if this is related at all but recently FireFox has been freezing, which then subsequently freezes the rest of Windows. HDD light goes crazy. Then all of a sudden its fine.

I should do more investigating, like use IE for a bit. But I cant bring myself to do it.

I run my Firefox with no addons and its 100% stable, no crashes.

Make sure you are running the latest version of your graphics drivers, as belive it or not Firefox utilises the gpu for acceleration and advises uptodate drivers.

6.0.2 update was to fix the bad certs due to the big hack on diginotar. They blacklisted all the certs with the browser update, i think. My firefox is still crashing occasional at work due to flash.

Mine too, i was prompted for a flash update earlier, but still the occasional stutter.

Cheers, at least it's not just me :p

As for this, my drivers are up to date, however on 275.33, as 280.86 or whatever it is now makes my pc unstable, so i stayed with 275.33, however my Direct X fails everytime i run a game, tried everything :(.
