Firefox 9.0

No idea, maybe they haven't updated it yet. But it usually ends up on the FTP servers a couple of days earlier than the main site.

And here we go again about the version numbers! :p

Why do people care about a number? Personally I couldn't care one bit at all! Getting updates constantly and each time something new is fixed/improved, and just because there is a new update does not mean that the UI has to change all the time.....

And chrome has been doing this for as long as I can remember but more annoying, is that it is a silent update, so you aren't even aware (unless you install an addon called chrome update notifier), yet people don't seem to complain about it

I personally have noticed some changes:

- starts up pretty much instantly for me now
- the stop/refresh/bookmark star buttons in the address bar looks slightly different, neater looking
- Most noticeable thing for me is that it seems to handle opening heavy image intensive pages in a new tab much better now, before when opening the high res screenshot thread, firefox would halt for about a second and you just had to sort of not click anything when that happened, however now that isn't a problem at all!

It's ok though because moving from .x releases to x.0 releases means they are no longer constrained by version numbers and they can now release whatever they want, whenever they want. Yep, that's the power of the decimal point. Feel it's power.

:p

It's to better compete against Chrome. Chrome has a higher version number, and normal people tend to think higher version = better browser. They're also trying to speed up the browser as Chrome can load webpages faster too. So sadly due to the faster development stage, some quality checks do slip away.

Fixed. I'm enjoying the fast updates, gives me the satisfaction of knowing I don't have to wait years for so much as a small feature improvement.

Chrome does the same.

Rather than taking 1 year to bring us a host of new features, they cut them in to smaller chunks and give it to us in smaller updates.

In other words you the end user get features, faster.

Whats wrong with that?

Chrome doesnt get blasted for fast updates... why should Firefox.
