I have downloaded the Firefox ADM template for active directory from here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/firefoxadm/files/

I then have moved the firefoxdefaults.adm into the INF directory on our server. I have added the templete and specified a manual proxy server and enabled the option to disable to the default broswer check.

I then ran firefox on my test machine and user with the policy object applied and no proxy settings or browser checks happen.

Am i missing something simple?

edit - the default domain policy does not have proxy settings specified so these would not be overriding anything. We have a seperate proxy settings GPO but this is applied to a different OU

I have just read the deployment pdf -
'On the next restart, the machines in the Scope of Management of this Group Policy
will get Firefox (if deployed via MSI) and all the settings defined within.'

Does this mean for the default policies to work you need to deploy via MSI? I just did a restart and gpupdate /force on the machine

Unless FF has changed recently it used store that setting in the file prefs.js (?) in the users profile, I assume the ADM is altering a registry key?

Thanks. I was aware the firefox stores settings in the users profile. I am not sure if the FirefoxADM alters registry, I simply added the template to adm, went to the admin templates, mozilla firefox default settings and set the proxy.

Not exactly sure how the firefoxADM works if it doesnt edit registry, maybe it does need to be installed via MSI so be able to (not) setup user local settings
