Greetings, we are in the process of deploying an IronPort S160 appliance, as such i need a viable way of pointing existing firefox clients at the proxy server using group policy.

I have seen several sites that has pre-build ADM templates and MSI files but has anyone had experience with a solution that worked for them?

Regards

Never used ADM files with firefox but I have used a few ADM files and written some. (I have a good guide somewhere if you need it..). Your other option would be to run a startup script to modify registry entries. I wouldn't recommend it. It's messy and not really good practice. Stick with ADM files - you get more control and they are just a 'tidier' solution IMO.

Quick question - how are you all deploying/locking down Firefox is your offering it alongside IE? Ideally I'd love to give our users the choice, but I haven't had the time to investigate firefox deployment yet :(

Locking down - we aren't - to be honest. We have ~1500 machines and it's installed on about 40.

Deploying - I picked up an MSI somewhere and did a Group Policy deployment. You may want to give appdeploy.com a try to pick up some deployment tips for particular software - I always find it useful.

Quickest and dirtiest way I found to do this was to setup a prefs.js and just deploy that to the machines via a script within a GPO. I could have just written a ADM but hey!
