Firefox and profiles?

I was looking at a site before and it started going a bit funny, so i closed firefox and restarted. Then it came up with a profile box, click on the start button. Says the default profile is in use?

I made a new one, now all the bookmarks have gone

Any ideas how to change back?

ah now, ive seemed to have sorted it. I edited the profiles.ini..

Now after that little scare, how the hell do i backup my bookmarks?

anyone? Does nobody back up bookmarks using firefox?
