Has anyone else been experiencing Firefox hanging/randomly crashing? I keep getting the stupid spinning pinwheel and I don't know why. Have about 10 tabs open, but it can happen at any time, even after a fresh restart. Has been going on despite the past few updates, and I have relatively few extensions (Tab Mix Plus, Adblock, Smooth Scrolling, Stylish).

The only patterns I've noticed are that it sometimes hangs a bit while loading embedded flash videos (despite updating Flash Player), and today on the Argos website, was hanging whenever I changed page.

You still use Firefox?

I use Safari, and would consider Chrome before going back to the hell of Firefox.

Chrome has the benefit of a built in Flash player, which is pretty good in my experience and worth a try.

Chrome it is then! I think I just never had a reason to change before.

Looks fantastic, very happy with Chrome, with the exception that the dark OcUK theme (via Stylish extension) isn't loading instantly, page shows the original blue for a split second then loads the dark theme.

try completely quitting firefox (e.g. apple + q). firefox just consumes a lot of memory - and the more plugins / extras / themes / tabs you use the slower it gets after a time.

many mac user just close firefox by closing it with the top-left icon - unfortunately this will not completely kill the firefox process but only close the visible window (and close all tabs) and that will cause a background firefox process running which consumes more and more memory the longer it is being used.

but yes, chrome is a better choice..

I had the same problems with Firefox in OSX, it was just terrible, I tried Chrome but in the end I went back to Safari as I find it cleaner and even a little bit quicker on this machine.

just switched from firefox myself as started becoming problematic with random freezes and stopping scrolling on trackpad. now using chrome and i personally find it far faster nd smoother to use.
