Sorry to start a thread on this, I searched and couldn't find anything that answers it. How do you backup your bookmarks from firefox? We plan to format and want to keep them, thanks :)

If you want to backup your whole profile including themes, extensions, bookmarks etc... Then all you have to do is first allow hidden files and and folders to be seen. Then goto C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data - then copy the Mozilla folder and paste it to your backup location.

Then after you've formatted copy the Mozilla folder back into the same directory and it'll be exactly as before :)

This is what I always do and it works great.

I export mine names as follow "Firefox bookmarks 20060905 1150"

Which orders the backups by date and time. I do the same with IE too.

"IE bookmarks 20060905 1150"

Every so often I synch them.

actually FireFox auto backs up your bookmarks everyday into the bookmarkbackups folder. Not sure if you can alter the settings to make it save this in an alternative location though.

Or easier still, %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Or use the Bookmark Backup extension, and let it do it automatically. :p
