Firefox bookmarks minor irritation

I have hundreds of bookmarks in Firefox and it doesn’t matter how many times I try to organise them they revert back to their original positions.

Basically I want to have the folders displayed in Alphabetical order. Firefox seems to have a mind of its own.

I brought up the bookmark manager and displayed the two panes. I then selected all on the left pane with Ctl+A and then asked them to be sorted Ascending – OK. I then did the same to the larger pane on the right and everything looks in order but when I come back into the Firefox at a later date the bookmarks have reshuffled themselves back to their original positions. So, when I go to save another bookmark the folders are out of alphabetical order. Admittedly they are in a bit of a mess with about 35 folders containing sub-folders with bookmarks and a large number of single bookmarks waiting to be sorted.

I used the import wizard recently to copy bookmarks from my old computer but I had had the same problem on my old computer. I did not play around with profiles just imported the bookmarks.

I’m using 2.0.0.14

Any pointers would be most welcome – easy to follow instructions please guys! Thanx

Couple of quick initial thoughts - have you updated to v3 to see if there's any difference?

Also might be worth looking at addons, there's loads of bookmark management ones.
