Firefox chat addon on the same window?

Hi guys,

A friend would like to know if there is a way off using some kind of chat program that will stay on the top of the firefox window, he wants to be able to chat to people whilst having the main firefox window still being displayed without having to alt tab out, to only cover a small portion and when he clicks back on the default firefox window he doesn't want the chat window to close either.

Maybe some kind of addon that adds on to the top bar with a small part for chat?

We tried chatzilla but the firefox window comes back in front as soon as you click on it.
