So, firefox was pretty slow for a while when I was using it, especially loading image heavy pages. I just assumed this was a firefox issue and carried on using it. I then switched to Waterfox, using the same profile, and it was amazingly fast, loaded everything properly. But over time its grown as sluggish as firefox had been.
So, I'm assuming its something do to with temporary internet files/cache, or something like that. But I know that just deleting everything will remove all flash game saves and so on, which I really don't want to do.

What can I safely delete without ruining my flash saves?

I am not sure with the answer for flash data but you could look into the setting that i use then tweak them to suit you.

Use CCleaner, you can untick 'Adobe Flash Player' in the Applications/Multimedia section.

This stops them from being cleared out. They aren't stored in the Firefox temporary files

Ah, that should do the job. Hopefully it will be able to find the waterfox temp files though!

And Mr.Fantastic, thanks for that, I'm pretty sure its the cache box there that I would need to uncheck, but equally I think its the firefox cache that's causing the slow loading issues, so I want to clear most of it out.

Will test out CCleaner and post the results this evening hopefully!
