firefox, continue a download that was interupted

i get so annoyed with my internet, do something that requires even a small amount of internet for a while and it cuts me off requiring the network card to be disabled and re-enabled to get it back.

so annoying as atm im trying to download a patch for bf2142 and i can't as it takes over 20 minutes and so far every time it has cut me out, and then i can't retry the download continung from last place.

wondering is there any add on that will mean i can download something, and if it stops its not a problem and can continue later without having to restart downloading from 0%?

bit off topic but would the problem i described be a virgin media thing cutting me off when i use the net, or router? it does it espcecially when i am using sites like youtube after about 5 videos i loose the net

You could grab a download manager like FlashGet or FreeDownloadManager.

easy way to eliminate the router as the problem is plug a computer directly into the virgin modem and see if it does the same or not.

Firefox 3 will have this functionality. Get the beta 2 version out now to try it out. I find it works with pretty much everything.

ha first time i start downloading the beta net went and i thought of ******************************** i can't even get the one thing which might work, tried second time and left pc donig nothing and it worked, installing now and will see what happens

moving the pc to the router is a good just not easy. will have to try it out. if the router isn't the problem what could it be? it has happened on different installations of xp and on 2 different network cards, the onboard and i tried putting an external one in just incase, didn't work. Also no one else gets the problem, only thing they get is if i download say on utorrent and there is a lot of downloads going at a really fast pace then everyone looses net. very frustrating problem as i have had it for years now

Adblock Plus is working for me with no tweaks.

The ABP website says it works with 3.0b3pre.

ffs, it was downloading the file fine for the last hour and with 18 seconds left it stopped and unfortunately it wont continue, not sure if it's fileplanet or ff3 but didn't work. got further though then ff2 so will try again but can't be arsed atm
