Firefox Crashing

Since firefox 2.0 came out ive had problems whereby.. If i press enter in a text box window after finishing a paragraph it will crash firefox. iIt comes up with an error and when you close this error , it crashs all the firefox's you have open.

It doesn't do it all the time just a lot of the time , i could say press enter now and nothing would happen it'd be ok but do it another time and crash.

As i said i haven't had this problem until firefox 2.0 came out :mad:

More usefully (since reinstalling doesn't touch all that much of value), is it the same in (Firefox) safe mode, or with a new profile?
Are you running the latest version (2.0.0.3)?

As i said its happened ever since firefox 2 came out , and i know of numorus other people with the same problem

I had the same issue so just went back to IE7 with IE7Pro/ad-filter for the moment. Other crashing was when Firefox seemed to refuse keypresses for navigation on pages would crash the browser.

EDIT : Does it with Seamonkey aswell , but no problem with opera,ie,netscape but i don't like those

I've had similar random crashes with 2.0.0.3. I think its the first time I've ever had a problem with Firefox to be honest.

Do you get the talkback window, and does it send the crash trace?

Talkback? , well i did get something and sent a report of the crash..

But doesn't matter now it seems to have been ongoing since version 2.0 and others have had the problem. Even though i reported it before , its still unfixed. Until i see it mentioned as fixed i'll be sticking with ie7, hell i do like ie7 a lot and may never go back :eek:

If you had the talkback ID (easiest way to get a list of TalkBack IDs is with an extension like Nightly Tester Tools, it might point towards an existing bug, or be helpful in filing a new one.

This is a more of a general point, but unless someone posts a proper report, some bugs will never get fixed. All credit if you've tried it in safe mode and with a new profile though, it can be a frustrating process to find some crashers.

For what it's worth, I can't recall ever having seen a bug like that in Minefield, and I couldn't reproduce it in FF 2.0.0.3 with a few minutes typing in a text box on these forums.
A quick look around suggests crashing with the spellchecker switched on, but that's extension-related.

Fair enough if you prefer IE7, but it won't get the bug fixed.

Yes I've reported the crashes through the bug report tool. It's not that I prefer IE7 over Firefox it's just that IE7 doesn't crash. I'll probably be back on Firefox once an update has been released for these bugs.

Don't supposed you've got the ID?

If you can be bothered, it might be worth trying a Minefield nightly build, or a nightly build of the mozilla1.8.1 branch...if it's going to be fixed in the next released minor version, it'll be fixed in the 1.8.1 nightly first...
Usual story applies though, backup backup backup.
