Hi

I've been recently having some worrying issue when browsing with Firefox 3.
All of a sudden it goes completely unresponsive, can't click any links or do anything. It also seems to cause no response with the XP start menu.
Then after 10-60 seconds it starts working again for a short while.

I now see if I bring up task manager and tell it to 'switch to' then I get responsiveness back for a short time. The problems works in bursts, i.e. it's completely fine now and has been for 10 mins plus.

A complete reinstall of FF, including deleting all personal info, cookies, and add-ons has made no difference. Plus, Nod32 virus scan brought up nothing.

Any ideas? Help!
(And no answers of use Opera/IE please)

By "deleting all personal info", you mean you've tried a new profile?
This is with a fresh install of Firefox 3.0.3 from mozilla.com, empty profile, etc?

Tried disabling your AV?

When uninstalling I chose the option to delete everything possible.
Yea, fresh install from mozilla.com. What do you mean by empty profile? Is there something else I should delete?

Will disable AV and try that. Oh, plus customizegoogle no longer predicts what I'm typing but not likely they are related

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles - your addons, bookmarks, customisations are (almost) all stored in there, and (mostly) anything that's going to break Fx will be in there.
If you checked the "delete everything" box in the uninstaller, it should have been deleted already.

Is that an extension?

Yep, deleted everything from there but I think I may be infected as NOD32 popped up with a virus warning for a practuically unknown virus so not sure if it's just a false alarm. Either way it's been absolutle ages since I reinstalled XP so think I'll just do that.

Yep. I like it. Does lots of things but I like the text prediction and it's privacy protection form Google's prying eyes
