Firefox downloads window not working

I recently had a problem that resulted in my PC shutting down twice while firefox was open and it seemed to corrupt my profile, luckily i was able to re store this and put things back to how i had them, apart from one thing.

When ever i download a file i always had the download window open and stay open, and i have confirmed the settings for this are correct,

But the window never opens when a download starts and if i open it from the tools menu it is always empty, although my downloads are working and going where i tell them to, i find this window very useful and now its broke.

Any one have suggestions on a fix other than un-install / re-install firefox?

Reinstalling almost certainly won't do a thing. What version are you using?

copy your bookmarks cookies formhistory etc file from your profile and uninstall, delete all trace of firefox, then reinstall and reinstate the above files and reinstall your plugins etc, its the only way i managed to fix it when i had the same problem. Probably not the quickist method but it worked.

Using version 2.0.0.14, if getting shot of it completely and doing a clean install is the best option then i think i will live with out it for a while.

Try removing downloads.rdf from your profile - it won't break anything, and it might very well fix it.

Fantastic, Give that man some stars, deleted downloads.rdf found a file to download and up popped a little window
