Firefox Downloads

Is there a way to get the firefox downloads seperate from actual firefox? Really annoys me when firefox sometimes crashes when im downloading.

Any ideas?

I tend to find a torrent if possible, or just use another machine...

soon Firefox will have multiple processes to prevent this problem from happening

Rather not use 3rd party programs, like to keep things minimal.

My problem is when browsing the vast number of blogs out there which post brand new house/electro tunes onto zippyshare. They are practically direct downloads but when i've got 50+ on the go and then Firefox crashes I have to re-click and re-find them all

You could try and add on called DownThemAll i think that keeps things separate might need to check although i guess it's classified as a download manager

Addons are fine, but I presume they would also crash with firefox? I suppose it allows the possibility of resuming downloads, although i'm not sure how functional that would be from rapidshare etc.

ok i just tried it with DownLoadThemAll and then closed firefox (can't actually crash it) but the download continued so i think it does work

quite handy actually means i don't need to keep firefox running.

Can you try ending the firefox.exe process and see if it still downloads? Or even check if it has its own process running?

I use Elinks, or wget, on my dedicated download NAS.

Use another application to download files or find out why your browser is crashing.

Do you know any really slim download managers? Most are packed with adware etc.

i'd just install chrome or opera and use that for downloads...
