Now, in the last couple of weeks, firefox has been getting slower and slower :( Ive tried several things such as uninstalling extensions etc but to no avail. The program itself is slow, and it loads the pages slowly, and this is when the program really slows down.

If youve got any advice id love to get this sorted :)

Hey I was about to post the same thing.... It's really getting to me now. Have you noticed that after it updates it runs quicker for a few days and then slows down again?

Is this the rumoured memory leaks etc that have been 'plaguing' Firefox 1.5? Reading Slashdot earlier about a Opera 9 beta that was supposed to be fantastic and a lot of people mentioned how poor Firefox had turned since 1.5 with 300mb+ memory leaks and such.

Perhaps revert to an older version or try Opera/IE7B2P?

May sound daft, and you've probably tried it, but everytime firefox slows for me i've opened up the downloads window and and selected clean up. Just a few downloads seems to slow the programme down dramatically.

There have been memory leaks in Firefox since.. forever not only in 1.5 but it isn't much of a problem unless you leave your browser open all day.

Given that you've reinstalled and still experience the same problem, it points to your profile as the last remaining culprit. Either a bad extension or something in there causing probs. Start up with a fresh profile and see if your probs still persist. I've never ever had a single problem with FF and I've been using it since the pheonix days.

Ive discovered what happens when it slows down, its whenever i download anything, but why would that make it slow down so much, as in the programmes responsiveness?

a quick opera question whislt where on the subject - can you have a bookmark toolbar like in firefox which can run just under the address bar so i can put my fav favorites in for quick access??
